Lisa K. Harris is a Pushcart Prize nominated writer, photographer, and wildlife biologist. She has published more than 150 articles and essays (plus one book) which have appeared in numerous magazines, newspapers, and scientific publications. She has been a magazine editor and written a regular column about back-road adventures. Her interests include traveling to remote and wild places, raising strong-minded daughters, cycling, and family history research. Lisa has a passion for the Pacific Northwest, Sonoran Desert, and the Deep South. She speaks fluent Spanish, having lived and traveled extensively in Central and South America. She earned a BA in Economics and a MBA in Marketing from the University of Chicago and a PhD in Natural Resources from the University of Arizona. She currently calls Tucson, Arizona, home, where she lives with her daughters, six cats, ten desert tortoises, a persnickety saltwater aquarium, two yappy mutts, and a blind herding dog named Noel. When she’s not writing or tending to her menagerie, she works at an environmental consulting company.
